ning. I slept good in this room. I woke up once around 5am. I went back to sleep util 8:15 when the door slamming started. I mentioned on Jewel how the doors don’t slam like on Carnival. They do slam here. It helps that I don’t have any rooms next to me or directly across from me. The room stays nice and dark with the virtual window closed.
When you open the shade it takes just a few seconds to turn on.
And you have your window. I really like this feature but I know on the newer ships they’ve made it the TV to increase storage space. We’ll see how I like that on Prima.
I’m going to check out that coffee machine in the lounge. I was disappointed with the Americano. It wasn’t very strong. I ended up going with two double espressos. I guess I could try an Americano and just add espresso shots to it.
This is the breakfast spread in the solo lounge.
They have ice water and orange juice. This is where I need the vodka shots my room so I can do a screwdriver in the morning.
It’s always empty. I have seen a couple of people stop by to grab coffee and leave.
I brought a Brita bottle with a filter to fill up with water.
The shower worked fine for me. I can definitely see it being challenging for some. It’s a little tighter than a normal cruise ship shower. It’s also not as tall as it looks because you step up 6-8 inches off the ground. I raised the shower head as high as I could and it was great for me. I’d say you’re good up to 6 feet. It may get difficult beyond that.
I managed to get all of my stuff put away into the two closets and the drawer. It was kind of all over the place this morning. Now the steward can come in and not touch any of my stuff.
That seat/tray table under the desk I slide over next to the bed as a night stand.
I’m not a fan of how this schedule is organized by categories now. I just want to see everything that’s happening now without having to look at each category.
When I was on Princess I was saying most of the things they do with the medallion, you don’t need a medallion for. They’re proving that point here. Just like at the restaurants where I put my card up to the reader and they got me. By the elevators they have these screens you can log into your account on by putting your card up to the reader. It’s the same thing Princess does with the medallions except with cards.
These are good for the people who want to lock their phones in the safe for the entire cruise. You can still access your account here. You do have to type in your room number as well so don’t worry about anyone getting into your account if you lose your card unless they also know your room number.
Irish Coffee at The Local bar.
I’m going to hang out here for this Q&A.
After the Irish coffee I got two Grey Goose screwdrivers.
This is my speed on the $109 internet plan. The $179 plan is supposed to be better and include streaming. I’m not sure if they have the Youtube app blocked or not but right now it won’t even load. That means even though I have premium and can download videos to my local device, I wouldn’t be able to watch them now.
After the Q&A they had a preview performance from the Choir of Man cast.
It looks like 80’s trivia is coming up. I’m going to get a Bloody Mary and do lunch at 12.
One difference between here and Carnival is they put smokers in a separate casino behind a door. That makes a big difference walking through the casino.
The casino bar has two big screens.
I love this feature. They sort of did this on fixed screens by the restaurants on Jewel. Here you can use any of the interactive screens by the elevators to get to this.
They really try to seat you by a window here without even asking.
Chicken flautas
Queso Frito Tortilla bowl
Lunch was good. Just down from the restaurants they have a large model of the ship.
They have the full Starbucks here. On Jewel it was just the counter.
Mojito from the Atrium bar.
They have a napkin folding demonstration with Petra from South Africa.
The fish on the carpet swim forward.
It doesn’t look like they got to my room yet. I saw a ship on my virtual window so I’m going to check it out.
Emerald Princess is pretty close to us.
If you’re a jogger on this ship, get it in early. The jogging track goes right through the area where all of the loungers are.
Two pina coladas
I’m checking out the speedway. It wasn’t in operation when I came up here yesterday. It seems to be popular.
They have the Mr. Sexy Legs competition on Lido. This is very much like the hairy chest competition they used to have on Carnival.
They have three female judges but the crowd picks the winner.
This is the guy that won.
Those funny competitions were all eliminated from Carnival. So the question is. Is Norwegian the new Fun Ship?
Mudslide at Spice H2O
Harvey is just pouring liquor in people’s glasses who want more. This lady just got like half a glass of of additional Tito’s poured in her Diet Coke. He just said “tell me when to stop.” She ended up getting a new drink.
We’re leaving Princess behind.
Galaxy pavilion has virtual reality games. It was closed off yesterday.
It looks like they got to my room.
I went down to studio lounge to refill my Brita bottle. The same guy who was working there this morning is working now. He must be dedicated to that lounge. It was empty again.
They have water and tea now.
They have fruit, cookies and cake now.
I’m going to check out the Mojito Bar.
This is Jalapeno Cucumber.
Coco Loco
Spicy Passion
I went back to the room to shower and change for the evening. I also started getting things ready for my excursion tomorrow.
I went down to the lounge to fill my Brita and the same worker was down there refilling pastries. It always seems to be empty but people must be there. He’s always carrying a try of dirty dishes to the back.
While packing my Katz bag for tomorrow I realized there are no beach towels in the room. I remember Princess giving towels on the gangway but I’m not sure the policy here. I never needed one in Alaska. So I go up to Spice because I remember seeing them there but they were all gone.
I went down to lido because surely they have them there. The sign said exchange only so I asked the guy. I could sign one out and back in there but they will have them on the gangway tomorrow. I guess I’ll wait and see.
I headed up to the Observation Lounge for a martini a little later than expected, then I headed to the The Social for comedy.
This isn’t the most comfortable seating in the middle or on the right side.
Ryan Wingfield
The show was family friendly but I wasn’t sure. A kid sat in my row but the comedian said a couple things that wouldn’t fly at the Carnival family friendly shows. But towards the end he mentioned it was family friendly.
The show gets out at 7:45. I’m trying to thread the needle here with an adult comedy show at 9 and Choir of Man at 10. That makes this my only time for dinner. Taste and Savor are just past The Social. I couldn’t decide if one looked less crowded. I think Savor. But I go to the elevators just past the restaurants to confirm.
That isn’t much help. The Savor line is shorter so I go there.
I was seated immediately and by a window.
Caesar salad
Cheese ravioli
Three cheese baked ziti
Every meal in Savor I’ve had someone from management come around and ask how the meal was. Tonight I had two of them do it.
Chocolate mousse
Basically group karaoke in the atrium.
15 mins early was about the right time to get to the comedy club.
I found a spot on the side with more comfortable seats. The guy next to me is friendly but isn’t a fan of Carnival. When he asks about my cruising history and I mention Carnival he says “They sure run the gambit over there.” This is the second comment I’ve had today about it.
Quincy Carr from Austin, Texas.
I made it to the show early. There are plenty of seating options available.
I found a sailor duck.
The cast comes out and says everyone 21 or older come up and get a beer.
Horsing around before the show
There is still plenty of space available for the late show.
There’s a part of the show where they throw coasters out into the crowd. I was one of about 20 fortunate people to get one.
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow we’re in the Dominican Republic.
