Encore: Tortola
Good morning from Tortola. I had the steward clean out all of the junk they try to sell you that was taking up my desk space yesterday.
I got up three some clothes on and ran downstairs for coffee and water.
I got a couple pastries, a couple double espressos, and filled my Brita. Then I went up to the room to shower and get ready for my excursion.
I found my excursion sign. For full coverage of the excursion please visit Discover Tortola. I’m going to skip ahead.
I just got dropped off back at the port from my excursion. Let’s check out the port area.
They have this entertainment space.
They have some food and bar kiosks along the water.
That’s a cigar/martini bar that probably has a good view.
It’s a lot easier to get a decent picture of the BVI sign now than it was this morning.
CD Richard and the entertainment staff are under the tent screaming dancing acting like you’re running through a football tunnel or something.
I started walking upstairs to avoid the elevator crowds. I get to deck 7 and realize I’m right by the local. I decided to just stop and eat lunch.
Pretzel bites
Fish & Chips
I stepped outside for sail away.
There’s an enclosed area for smokers right here. I’ve noticed Norwegian puts smokers in a box like I haven’t seen on Carnival and Princess.
These actually do work and are a nice little feature. I can see things on the islands without sticking my face in them.
I headed to Sugar Cane for a drink. At first I thought they were closed but the bartender was just in the back.
Wiki Rum Punch
I stepped back outside to catch more of sail away.
After sail away I headed back inside to try some of the mojitos at Sugar Cane.
Spiced Rum Mojito
My favorite is the Jalapeno Cucumber mojito.
Flordito
Then I headed to the District Brewhouse for a Guinness.
They’re out of Abita Amber again. I’m going to try a Terrapin Amber.
No where near as good as Abita.
I finally made it back to the room to shower and change for the evening.
I stopped in the studio lounge to refill my Brita. This is the spread.
I got another fabulous table in the Manhattan room.
I was trying to figure out if I’ve ever seen kids seated alone for dinner in the MDR. I can’t recall it. In front of me are two tables of two. I would say one kid is 11-12 and the other three are 8-10.
They got so loud the guy at the table next to me looked up and screamed holy moly! Then I figured it out. They’ve pushed tables together to make an adult table with 8 adults and behind them are these two kiddie tables.
Mini beef tostada
French onion soup
This is the bacon wrapped shrimp. The shrimp are good but I pulled the bacon off. When I get this in restaurants the bacon is crispy. It was soft and fatty here. I pulled it off and the shrimp is fine.
Black forest cake
People who can’t sing shouldn’t be attempting to do so in the atrium.
I headed to the theater for more magic with J. Alexander.
After magic I headed to the Cavern Club to check out the Beetles Invasion.
I thought all the Beatles fans would be in bed by 8:30.
After the Beatles show I headed back to the theater for comedy.
Quincy Carr from Austin, Texas.
Ryan Wingfield from Alaska.
I stopped by the big screens in the casino to see if the US vs. Canada hockey game was on but it’s soccer.
The glow party is happening up on lido deck.
Hosted by CD Richard.
I see food in the hallway all day, everyday on Carnival. This is the first time I’ve seen it this week.
The hockey game is on TV in the room!
I figured it out. During intermission they switch to other sports. It was the first intermission when I was in the casino.
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is a sea day.
