Ensenada Famous Blow Hole

on
December 8, 2025

My trip to Ensenada was just to satisfy the rule about making a foreign port call on my Hawaiian cruise. Because of that we didn’t have a very long port day.

There weren’t many tour options. I went with the World Famous Blow Hole tour which was $50 through Carnival. I got it for $40 on a 20% off excursion sale.

Benji is our tour guide. He said all the tours are leaving at the same time which is what caused us to be backed up today.

It looks like we’ll be pulling out 4pm at best. This is supposed to be a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

Back on board time is 7:30pm so we’re going to be pushing it which is why you want to be booked on a ship excursion with a short port time like this.

It was a one hour ride to the blow hole.

He gave us until 6:25 to be back on the bus. That’s probably pushing it with a 7:30pm back on board time.

There are a lot of buses out here so I made note of the bus number.

In and out of this place you have to walk probably a quarter mile through vendors selling souvenirs and  food. They are pretty pushy.

Finally I made my way to the blowhole and there’s a ton of people trying to see it. It’s a holiday weekend so it’s not just cruisers here. A lot of Mexicans came here for the weekend.

I went up a level and got this shot of the people looking at the blow hole.

I took pictures of the food on the way out.

I got back to the bus at 6 just to be safe.

There were a lot of good views from the bus but the windows were so dirty I couldn’t get good pictures.

We got back promptly at 7:40.

I was back on the ship at 7:45. I had to go through both port and ship security.

In Hawaii we didn’t go through ship security because they knew we went through tight security in the port.

I didn’t love this excursion but I got to see the blow hole which seems to be the main attraction in the Ensenada area.
