Good morning! Today is embarkation day but first we’re going to watch the ship come in and get something to eat. This is the sunrise view from my room at Hilton Riverside.
They have local coffee in the room. PJs is like a Starbucks down here. It was started by a lady named Phyllis Jean.
In case there wasn’t enough coffee in the room I brought these from a hotel stay in New Orleans last month. Community is another Louisiana coffee brand.
I don’t think this is the right size lid.
I am going to try to spend my food credit before I leave. I want to use it towards chargrilled oysters at Drago’s which is downstairs.
The ship is getting close. I’m going to find a better viewing spot.
There are a bunch of court yards in building 3 at Hilton Riverside. One of them has a pool in it. This one is the Mark Twain courtyard. It’s the biggest and offers a view of the river and the port.
The Carnival ship is already in port.
Here comes Escape.
I’m going to head downstairs and get a shot right next to the ship.
There is a Cafe Du Monde right here.
It’s not quite open yet. I’m going to head down by the ship upstairs.
This is just outside of the food court.
Transportation is here but nobody has exited yet.
Here they come.
I may have stayed up there too long. Everyone who got off the ship headed straight for Cafe Du Monde. With this line I’m just going to go down to the original.
The Shops at Jackson Brewery.
If you come to the original, they only accept cash.
Cafe Au Lait
It takes a lot of practice to not get any of that powdered sugar on black pants.
This building on the right side of Jackson Square which now consists of shops, was originally where the clergy from St. Louis Cathedral lived.
Before he was president, Andrew Jackson was a General who defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans.
St. Louis is the oldest Cathedral in the country. The first church was built here in 1713. This one was built in 1793.
Circus in a barrel in front of the Cathedral.
Let’s take a look inside the church.
The Moonwalk was named for former mayor Moon Landrieu. He was the father of former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and former Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu.

I’m checking out of my room.
I got a seat at the oyster bar in Drago’s right when they opened at 11.
A dozen chargrilled oysters
The port traffic is starting to build up.
The Cafe Du Monde line has settled down. Next time we’ll cover embarkation.
