Good morning! Today I’m boarding Norwegian Prima in Galveston. First I’m grabbing a Texas-shaped breakfast before leaving the Quality Inn in Texas City.
It’s a 24-minute drive from here to the Discount Cruise Parking.
I arrived at the parking lot right on schedule at 10am. Being the only ship in port today sure does making parking a lot easier. When I cruise on weekends they send me to the back of this lot and it’s packed. Today they have me parking right at the entrance and no other cars are around me.
Normally I would have to wait on a shuttle but today it is already here.
On a weekend there will be 10-20 people waiting for shuttles for each cruise line. Today it’s just me and three other people.
There was no traffic getting to the port. I highly recommend cruising out of Galveston on a Friday if you can. This is great.
A porter met our shuttle to collect bags.
That bay door is where you can drop your bags off yourself. Historically I’ve always been able to do that but last time they made me give it to a porter standing in front of the door.
My arrival time is 10:30 but I’m here at 10:10. It looks like I should be able to get right in.
That’s not much of a line.
Alcohol check is just past security. On Carnival I would’ve brought a bottle of wine since they don’t have a drink package out of Galveston on embarkation day. But with Norwegian I do have the drink package day one so I’m skipping the wine line.
Next up is the check-in counter.
Not a bad line here either.
Now we are heading upstairs.
This is where you can get your embarkation day pictures taken.
Next they have water and the waiting area.
I made it to the waiting area at 10:20. Boarding has not started yet so I’m going to take a seat.
They really pack you in.
And we’re boarding at 10:45.
That’s the special Haven waiting area over there. It’s empty because they already boarded.
I am onboard at 10:48. Next time we’ll cover day 1 on Norwegian Prima.
