Regal Christmas: Roatan

Good morning. We had the time change so it’s only 7am.  We’re still making our way to Roatan. Today is going to be a beach day for me. Here is a look at today’s Princess Patter.

7:40 update. It looks nice but the forecast has a 90% chance of rain by 9 and 98% by noon. I’m definitely going to try to get on the beach as early as possible and hopefully I can get an hour in the water.

I’m about to head out for breakfast.

I got a butter pecan latte at the Princess Live Cafe.

Caribbean Sunrise

We can see Star of the Seas and an MSC ship in Coxen Hole.

I believe Norwegian Dawn is tendering to Coxen Hole. They were doing that when I was there on Escape in November.

We are pulling into Mahogany Bay.

Carnival Miracle is already docked. At least it isn’t a big ship. The beach was slammed when I was here on Jubilee with another ship.

I’m going to grab a couple screwdrivers on lido deck before heading off the ship.

I’m glad we got the front spot. That means we’re going to get all of the photo ops.

These sandwiches caught my eye as I walked through the buffet.

We should have a good view of the beach from this parking spot.

That sand is dark. I bet it already rained here.

I’m heading off of the ship.

I just got back on the ship and I’m heading to lunch.

Airplane is on the big screen.

After lunch I got a dirty banana at the Sea View bar.

Here’s an aerial view where you can see the new construction behind the restaurants.

I got a banana daiquiri.

The beach is empty. The sand has returned to it’s normal color so it definitely rained before we got here when that sand was dark brown.

Dirty Dancing is on the big screen.

According to the map this is a teen area. I don’t remember if this was here the last time I was on this ship. That’s nice for them to have their own hot tub.

I decided to check out the other areas I noted last time that weren’t kid friendly to see if they’ve made any other changes. Sure enough, this basketball court was setup as two pickleball courts 24/7 last time.

Someone brought their clubs.

This is a smoking area. Nice area for the smokers.

This was setup for ping pong the last time I was here. Now its a place to kick soccer balls.

This is still just a putting green. I don’t know if they have space to make it mini golf or not but that would make this more appealing to the younger crowd.

I’m heading back to the Adults only Retreat.

I got a mojito.

After that I headed down to Crooner’s for drinks before dinner. I started off with a dirty martini.

Then I got a Bugsy.

I’m getting a Corona to take to the balcony to watch sail away and the sunset.

The room was cleaned while I was out.

We are already sailing away.

Carnival Miracle is following.

Star of the Seas is moving in front.

I’m going into the stash for a Guinness.

They have a good selection of on demand Christmas movies. I’m starting with Christmas with the Kranks.

I went back to the Ocean Terrance for dinner. I didn’t plan on eating the same thing two nights in a row but I have Chef’s Table tomorrow night and I want to do the dining room on the last night.

You don’t have options when using your Princess Plus casual meals here so this will be the exact same thing I had last night.

I don’t play in the casino but if I need a quick beer before a show they seem to be the fastest. Rafael in particular.  Most bartenders ask your room number. Rafael has it.

We have a new comedian tonight.

It was packed. I got there two minutes before showtime but found a solo seat up front.

Andrew has been our comedy host all week. Apparently he is taking over for Jed and this was his turnover week. Tonight we have Jed.

Corey Rodrigues is probably the best comedian I’ve seen on Princess so far. I was relieved when he said his adult show tomorrow will be the theater.

This was a little misleading. Maybe it was accidental but there was a sign out front saying the venue was full.

This is the main show Fiera. This show was on the ship two years ago but they didn’t perform it on my specific cruise. I think it was replaced by the Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis fly on acts adding a combined show last time.

That was a good show. Cruise Director Giuseppe came on to close it out.

I grabbed another from Rafael after the show.

I ordered some beers to the room and headed up. This time I was there for delivery. It took about 20 minutes. Thursday Night Football was on a channel called NFL 1 in the room.

I was heading down to the 80’s party after the game. I thought it was in the Vista lounge but it was actually the Piazza.

I get to Vista and it’s the comedian again. But he’s doing something different. He’s 15 minutes in, but I sat there for 10 minutes and only one joke was repeated. But the last five minutes he was getting into a story he told at the earlier show so I left.

I stopped by the Wheelhouse bar for another beer on my way to the 80’s party.

There’s the 80’s party.

I’m going to finish watching Christmas with the Kranks, then go to sleep. Tomorrow is a sea day.
