Sonesta Suites in Webster
I am a big fan of staying in Webster, Texas which is about a half hour from the port of Galveston. I have had some good hotels there with Fairfield Inn, Comfort Suites, and Holiday Inn Express. This time I booked last minute and the usual suspects were higher in price than I wanted to pay. I took a chance with Sonesta Suites which had a good rating. I look for a minimum guest rating of 4 out of 5 stars and I skim through the recent reviews on TripAdvisor. This one looked fine and I was able to get it for $68 on Hotwire.
I arrived late and was only here to sleep, shower, grab coffee/breakfast and leave. It looks like the place used to be a Residence Inn. It’s a little older. I think there are people who live there. One of the buildings had a barking dog outside, a bicycle, personal grill, and plants. It looks like at least that building has long-term residents.

I wouldn’t say the bed was uncomfortable. But I wouldn’t say it was one of those great comfy hotel beds either. It was better than the futon-like bed I slept on at my friend’s apartment in November. I slept good 7 hours. I only woke up once and was able to go right back to sleep. I never turned the TV on.

Hotwire advertised a free breakfast for this place but it does not look like they have that anymore.

This is a look at a ride to the parking facility near the port. I believe it would normally be 30 minutes but we’re dealing with poor weather so it’s going to be closer to 40 minutes this morning.

This hotel won’t be the first place I look for in the future, but for the location, $68, sleep, shower, coffee, it was fine.
