Barcelona Hotel: Sercotel Rosellon

I came across Sercotel Rosellon while reading about the best rooftop bars in Barcelona. Once I saw that view of Sagrada Familia, I knew it was going to be the place for me if it was under $300. It turns out as a registered member you could get a room as low as $170. I registered and upgraded to the superior room with a view of Sagrada Familia for $208. It came to $214 after taxes.

I can’t say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff was at this hotel. I was only there a short time but I felt like they got to know me while I was there. They have a concierge desk (white desk on the right) but I never needed to stop there because the two front desk agents answered all of my questions.

This is the hotel lobby bar. I never spent any time here because of my short stay and the fabulous view from the rooftop bar.

This is a comfortable looking lounging area across from the lobby bar.

This is my superior room with a view of the Sagrada Familia.

The bathroom came equipped with almost anything I could’ve needed.

Now it’s time to check out the main reason I booked this hotel, the view of Sagrada Familia. Many hotels with rooftop bars allow anyone to go up there. This one is reserved for hotel guests so it never got really crowded.

The bar is like a food truck style bar. Don’t ask me how they got it up here.

Even at night it never got really crowded on the rooftop. I would say 10-12 people at the most. That really allowed you to enjoy the view without 50 people taking selfies.

The bathroom is kind of an outhouse style. I believe it did have a sink in it.

One item I forgot was the adapter for European outlets. I went down to the front desk and they pulled out a bag of adapters and told me to take what I needed.

That’s a good view to wakeup to.

They did have an additional charge breakfast upstairs. I never tried it myself.

On checkout day I wanted to spend the morning and early afternoon on the Hop-on, Hop-off bus. I asked the front desk If I could checkout early and have them keep my bags for me. They said that’s a normal service they provide at the hotel and added I could feel free to use all of their facilities for the remainder of the day as well. I had no intention of spending any more time in the hotel, but it’s a nice option to have. They always went above and beyond my expectations.

I thought this hotel was a great value. Most of the hotels I was looking at were starting around $300 or $400 per night. Some required a minimum two night stay. I was only able to stay one night.

After registering on their website, I was able to get a room as low as $170. Upgrading with the view of Sagrada Familia cost me a total of $214 for the night.

If there is a negative, I would say it’s the location. Even though it’s close to the Sagrada Familia, that’s not the most central location in Barcelona. For that you’d want to be closer to Catalonia Square. That’s where you can catch all of the Hop-on, Hop-off buses. I had to ride one bus to Catalonia Square to catch the other line. It’s cheaper and easier to get public transportation to Catalonia Square than it is Sagrada Familia. I could’ve taken a couple of trains to get from the airport to this hotel fairly cheap but that would’ve taken around an hour. I was pressed for time so I went with the more expensive taxi.

As long as the location works for you, I highly recommend staying at this hotel in Barcelona.
