Carnival Sailabration: Belize

on
May 2, 2022

Good morning! Today we are in Belize. It’s the last port day of the cruise. I have the Altun Ha Mayan ruins excursion booked through Carnival. Fortunately the meeting time is 8:30 so I should be able to get a real breakfast in. The last time I was here I had to meet before the dining room opened for breakfast so I had to do room service.

These came yesterday regarding my excursion meeting time and the water shuttles.

If you book an excursion in Belize outside of Carnival you want to get to the coffee shop first thing to get a water shuttle number. If you book through Carnival you’re covered.

Here is today’s Fun Times.

Since today is the last port day of the cruise, we have the towel animal takeover on lido deck.

I’m grabbing a mocha from the lido deck coffee bar.

Let’s take a look at some of the outdoor sports areas while I’m waiting for breakfast to open. This is the jogging track.

There’s a half basketball court. Some of the newer ships have a full court.

Next to the basketball court they have volleyball.

I stopped by the room to get ready for breakfast and I knocked my mocha off of the night stand!

Oh no! It got on the bed! What is the steward going to think? I have to clean this up.

After cleaning the room I’m going for coffee 1, take 2.

Now I’m heading down to breakfast.

I love this table. I’m in the corner by the window. They can’t put anyone by me and I have a view.

I used to eat this broccoli scramble but those eggs aren’t good. They’re not the same scrambled eggs you get with brunch. The biscuits have always been like hockey pucks. The only thing I’m eating off of this plate is most of the bacon. Except for that fatty part on the end.

Fortunately I also ordered pancakes.

After breakfast I stepped out to the atrium bar for a bloody mary. I also got a water for my excursion.

The library is in the atrium next to the main dining room.

I moved to the main lounge which is the meeting point for my excursion.

They called water shuttle passes 1-3. After breakfast I walked by the coffee shop on the promenade deck. They had water shuttle passes across from it labeled 1-20. The number 6 was the first one available.

I don’t like they way they’re doing this. On Vista they would look at your ticket as you walk in and give your excursion sticker. Here they’re calling them out one by one and people with stickers are running all over the theater handing them out. You have to hold your hand up until someone gets to you. It was so much better the other way.

How many people? Sixteen. Don’t you see the others?

My group was one of the first called as expected since it is one of the longer excursions.

We sat on the shuttle for 40 minutes before it left. I’ve been on this shuttle for a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes. My tour was supposed to leave 30 minutes ago. This is exactly why you want to book a Carnival excursion when water shuttles are involved.

I have a green sticker so I’m going to terminal 2.

They have bathrooms in the terminal.

I’m going to skip to after my excursion now. For full details on the excursion please read Altun Ha Mayan Ruins.

When I got back I walked down to the Belize sign to try to get a shot of it with the ship. The positioning of the ship today was such that it was impossible to get the ship and the sign in the same shot.

We have an hour until we have to be back on board so I’m going to head back to the ship.

Comedian Ron Josol is on my shuttle. I wonder if he picked up something in port–like some new material.

It’s pretty warm outside.

After getting back on the ship I grabbed a Thirsty Frog Red from the Red Frog rum bar and a ringer and fries from Guy’s Burger Joint.

I headed back to the room to shower and get ready for dinner. I’m putting out a bag a laundry as well.

I made it to the Alchemy for opening and was able to get a seat.

Andrea made these.

This is a version of the expresso martini without the expresso that Jose makes. He substitutes chocolate liqueur.

Janniel showed up and made these amazing drinks.

Supposedly last night around midnight a couple got into that kids play area that’s fenced in by the lower level of the Serenity Deck…And they were doing…loud things.

I’m heading to dinner. They have a solo guitarist in the casino.

And someone playing steel drums in the atrium.

Abigail, the hostess in the Main Dining Room, is one of those where I told her my name the first night and she’s remembered it ever since.

BLT Salad

This is the first time I’ve noticed Michigan pasties on the menu. I’m not sure how accurate they are because I’ve never had them before. They are pretty good though.

What the heck? The prime rib is looking pretty bad. I sent it back. And they gave me a baked potato but they don’t have cheese that goes on it. The waiter said that’s only on lido. All they have is Parmesan cheese.

I’m not a fan of the prime rib tonight. I’m skipping it and going to dessert.

The waiter brought some cheese for my potato.

Boston creme cake. It doesn’t come with ice cream but they gave me some anyway.

The comedians are off tonight. We went from main lounge comedy shows being the only entertainment two nights ago. To repeats of those shows being the only non-Love & Marriage show entertainment last night. To no comedy tonight. They need to come back strong with all new shows the next two nights. Personally I think the repeats should all be on the last night since most people don’t show up anyway.

They have a Viva Variety show tonight. I think it’s a singer. He had 7:30 and 9:30 shows so I set my schedule to make the 9:30.

Marcus Anthony is the singer.

The guy just told someone (not me) to turn their phone off. I’m not a fan of entertainers telling their audience what they can and can’t do so I’m heading out.

They have a band playing in the atrium now.

After that I headed up to the mega deck party on lido deck.

Good night! Tomorrow is a sea day.
