Hawaiian Radiance: Day 13

Good morning. Today is our last sea day before we reach Ensenada. One thing about this room location. It hasn’t been much of a problem but one day I could hear a bunch of workers laughing and talking like echoing under the floor. Now I hear someone whistling. The dining room is below me so I’m assuming it’s one of those back of the house areas for waitstaff. I got nine hours of sleep before the whistling woke me up which is about my maximum.

I forgot to put my do not disturb sign out last night so the room steward was tapping on my door at 9am. Then when I left the room at 9:30 he asked if he could clean. I have my laundry all over the couch. Today is the last day to send off laundry so I want to get what I wear today in the bag and send it off this evening. I could have sent most of it out yesterday but it just seems like a hassle to get bags. I’ve already had to ask for them twice so I’m just going to try to squeeze everything I have into one bag which will be my 4th bag. Platinum members are allowed five bags on a two week cruise so the diamond benefit isn’t necessary for me.

Here is a look at our progress towards Ensenada.

There were only two people in line for coffee at 9:30.

I grabbed a screwdriver from the atrium bar to take to the morning show.

After the morning show I returned to the atrium for another screwdriver.

They just had Carnival trivia. I probably could’ve done well if I wasn’t late. I was the only one who knew all of the ship classes. I remember a time when I was the only one who knew John Heald was brand ambassador if you can believe that. I want to say that was on Triumph in 2016 or 2017. He’s done a good job of using Carnival to market himself since then.

It’s cold out. I think I’m going to go get the long sleeve shirt. It’s a good thing I didn’t send the laundry off.

It’s cold, but not that cold! It’s 60 degrees and windy.

I went back to the room and tried to get my laundry in the bag. It’s stuffed to the maximum plus I want to get what I’m wearing now in it. I’ll do the best I can. If he has to split it in another bag so be it. I’m diamond. Platinum gets five bags in two weeks. Just give me five bags!

Noon views

Ice carving is happening on lido now. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a female ice carver.

I spotted the comedians getting lunch. This is Brad Trackman, Aurelio Bocanegra, and Saul Trujilo.

I got Big Chicken for lunch and brought it back to the room.

I was late getting up to lido for the ship building competition. I guess it was canceled. There’s no way it was done in 15 minutes. I remember there being much more to it than that on Venezia. It’s pretty dead at 1:20pm. But it is cold.

Let’s take a look at the serenity area.

I got a coconut kiss at the bar while I’m up here.

This is a two deck serenity area. Here is the second deck.

And back down to the other side of the first deck.

It’s right by the water slide entrance.

I’m getting another coconut kiss before I head down.

I’m going to try mini golf.

My first shot hit the metal and the wind blew it all the way over there. On my second shot the wind blew it right back where it was. The third I hit it really hard and got it in. That’s par.

On 2 I went over the orange bridge, it hopped over the cup, and the wind blew it to the next hole. I finally got it into The blue which is wind resistant. That’s a five which is three over par.

That’s a seven. The wind just blows it everywhere.

That’s a three which is one over.

That’s a four which is two over.

That’s a six which is four over. A couple just came out and gave up on the fourth hole but I’m going to finish.

I was trying to tee off on 8 and the wind just blew my ball into the hole. I wonder if that counts.

I came out good hitting it myself. Then the wind stopped long enough for me to get a two which is one under.

The wind moved it, then died enough for a 2. That’s 1 under again.

Red’s Rum Treasure

I grabbed a dirty martini from the alchemy and headed to the limelight lounge for a stargazing presentation.

I thought this was going to be the naturalist but I guess his was at the usual 11:45. It wasn’t listed on the hub though.

This is lady has had a variety of lectures. None of them really related to the trip, but I am interested in the stargazing one.

After that I headed back to the Alchemy for another dirty martini.

When I left Nikola screamed “See you in five minutes, Greg!”

After that I headed to the theater for their Back to the 50’s show.

I’m going to have to go into my stash tonight because I’m almost out of drinks.

I stopped by the room to get a beer from my stash. The room has been cleaned and my laundry has been picked up.

I have an eight beer stash.

They have a sock hop in the atrium.

This is our current location.

I caught these guys playing Metallica and Ozzy the other night so I have my ears open.

If you read my Spirit review last year, I kept saying they should rip Bonsai out and put in an Emeril’s. I think that’s a winner everywhere but this sushi thing is regional. That place was empty on Spirit. Tonight I’ve been watching since I’m thinking of eating there. On my first two passes it was full. The last two the bar was mostly empty and more and more tables are emptying so I think l’m going to grab another beer and hit the sushi bar.

I’m trying to figure out if I’m supposed to drink out of this or if it’s for my soup.

I guess the other bowl is for drinking.

I think they expect me to know how to drink water by now. I went over to a table where I know people and found the missing link. They never gave me a glass.
