After checking in at the Long Beach Hilton, I decided to go out for dinner. I picked a place in the Thai district. I’m going to walk there so I’ll get to see some of downtown Long Beach along the way.
I’m hoping to stop here tomorrow morning for breakfast.
This is the second one of these I’ve seen so far. It’s a delivery robot. This one has a crowd around it so I stopped to see what was going on. It’s being detained by a man who claims it bumped into his ankle. He is detaining it until he can file a police report.
This is the place.
It’s a small place with only about 10 tables and they stay packed. When a table opens, someone is waiting on it.
I got a Thai beer.
Green curry dumplings
Spicy chili and basil (pad kaprow)
Side of fried rice
That was way too much food. It was good though.
It was about a mile and a half walk to the restaurant. That last half mile after Roscoe’s was pretty sketchy. I had a couple of people on drugs approach me. I knew I was going to take a Lyft back. But I wanted to stop at this corner liquor store to grab some beer for the room.
This is the beer I got. I wanted something from California. I only got through two of them. I cracked a third and fell asleep after a couple sips.
Good morning!
I attached my luggage tags. This is my first cruise as a diamond.
I’m going to have one of those beers for breakfast.
They really like the rubber ducks here.
I’m heading to Roscoe’s for breakfast.
We are entering the Thai district which is where I ate last night. But I ate about a half mile down the road. You could probably find a place in this area if you don’t want to walk as far as I did last night.
We have reached Roscoe’s!
Here is the menu. I just got the #1. This is a lot of food.
They aren’t stingy with the butter or syrup either.
That was good. I walked back to the hotel. Now I’m going to check out and see what the situation is with the free shuttle to the port.
I poured what was left of the beers in my coffee cup.
It even looks like coffee once it’s settled.
A lady said it would be a 15-20 minute wait on the shuttle. I think it would be longer because there are enough people and bags here to fill a couple shuttles before me. This is only half of them.
The problem is this shuttle doesn’t hold much luggage and people have a lot of bags for this two-week cruise.
I ended up ordering a Lyft. That cost me $11.
Next time we’ll cover embarkation.
