Harvest Caye in Belize

Harvest Caye is a private island in Belize owned by Norwegian Cruise Line that has a beach, pools, shopping, zip lines, cabanas, wildlife exhibits, bars and eateries. The nice thing about Harvest Caye is it eliminates the lengthy tender boat ride to shore required with other cruise lines in Belize.

Here is a nice overview look at Harvest Caye. The lighthouse is where the zip lines run from.

As you can see there is this long walkway from the pier, but it’s much quicker and more enjoyable that the 30-minute tender boat ride on other cruise lines.

They do have free shuttles to the end of the pier if you don’t want to walk.

This gives you a good idea of how far the ship is from the entrance.

This is a map of the island. We are going to be starting down in the bottom left at #1. First we’re going to cover everything along the bottom of the map down to #20. Then we’ll cover the top of the map on the way back to the ship.

Just past the entrance is where you can check in for parasailing and the beach villas if you rented one.

The marina and mainland excursions is straight ahead and on the left across from the beach.

This is the pool area.

There is a pool bar and a restaurant at this end of the pool.

The marina is directly across from the pool. We’ll stop by there later. Now we’re heading to the beach.

There are a lot of kiosks along the path between the pool and the beach.

This is a photo op with Mayan ruins in the background. For some reason this closely resembles Chichen Itza in Mexico instead one of the many Mayan sites in Belize.

This is the other side of the restaurant by the pool.

We are now entering the beach area.

This is a beach bar.

This is the beach rental place.

This is the splash pad for the kids.

There are plenty of chairs and shade at the beach.

These showers are between the beach and the splash pad.

This is the Flight House Bar and Grill.

They have a large checkerboard on the beach.

Here you can see the zip line going over the beach and water.

The zip line runs both directions from the lighthouse.

Here is someone in a kayak.

We can see someone who bought the parasailing excursion.

The have recycling receptacles along the beach walkway.

I’m not sure where you get the ball and racquets for ping pong but they do have a table.

This is a private villa.

That villa has this beach space reserved.

We are nearing the end of the public facilities. This is bar and grill then there are restrooms on the other side of it.

That is a private beach for people who rented the beach villas. That is #20 on the map. This is where we turn around and cover the top of the map.

Locker rentals and they have plenty of extra beach chairs.

This is the beach on the other side.

We are back to the Flight House Bar & Grill. I’m going to stop for a beer.

The downside to this private island is the beer prices. At the other port I could get a bottle of Belikin for $3. Here I have to pay $7 for a small draft beer.

I’m not sure what they added to it but the $7 beer ended up being $9.28.

This is a dugout canoe.

Here is some information about the local wildlife.

The Wildlife Experience is free.

We have reached the shopping area.

We have another bar & grill.

And a coffee shop.

Let’s take a look at the coffee prices.

Now we are at the marina where you can purchase tours.

I came across this guy on my way back to the ship.

And we made it back to the entrance.

You can walk or take a shuttle back to the ship.

That completes our tour of Harvest Caye.
