Planet Hollywood Cancun: Day 6

on
May 21, 2021

Those loud neighbors I got the day before yesterday are the worst. Nothing can be done remotely quiet. Everything is shoe stomping, door slamming and screaming.

I went to sleep about 12:30am. At 1:30 they wake me up. They are standing right in front of my door screaming at each other– For awhile. I actually got up out of bed and opened my door. Then they realized what they were doing. Then at 2:30 someone came and started banging on their door.

I don’t even know how they slam their door. This isn’t a ship where it closes like that. If I let mine go it’s a two click close I hear and it’s fairly quiet. I would have to do it intentionally to slam it like that. And it’s every time with them. I never heard that with the previous neighbors.

Shhh. The neighbors want quiet because they’re sleeping.

I’m going to head down and see what the beach looks like this morning.

I need some Fuel!

I tried the Carmel latte today. I was going to try vanilla but they said they didn’t have it. It is on their menu though.

This chocolate chip muffin looked good. And it is good.

After the coffee and muffin I headed to my breakfast bar.

The buffet hostess knows my name now. This is my fifth morning in here. It seems like they learn your name a lot faster on a ship. Of course this place is new so it’s possible everyone here could be working their first resort.

I don’t think I’m going to get anything additional. They have a lot of good looking Mexican options in that buffet but it’s all self serve which I hate. Just the eggs and crepes are cooked to order. They have a juice bar as well where you can get your smoothies and whatnot.

“You know a muffin can be very filling.”

I set a reminder for my COVID test tomorrow. It’s hard to believe that’s here already.

Here is today’s activity schedule.

And the weather.

I requested my room be cleaned this morning. I was going to do it every other day but the night before last they knocked on my door and asked if I needed anything. I got more towels. Then when I got room service I threw my empty water bottles and beer cans in the room service bag. So I didn’t need trash taken out either. It’s been three days since my room has had a cleaning, but it’s time now.

That’s pretty good service. It was less than an hour ago that I left.

It looks like we’re getting ready for the Emmys.

There’s nothing unusual about that.

Another red carpet.

Jesus is back from his days off.

Bahama Mama from Jesus.

I decided to head to the Premiere Bar and knock a couple more drinks off of the list there.

Legally Blonde.

Mango Bay.

I decided to try the dry side of the grotto bar in the lazy river before lunch. And maybe I’ll get wet this afternoon.

This is where the lady got stuck with the non-alcoholic pina colada out of the machine the other day. I watched the bartender this time. He mixed my pina colada up fresh in the blender.

I was happy to see Gusto open for lunch. They have the best sit down order from a menu type lunch here.

The hostess was the same one from the buffet this morning so she knew my name.

Figures. I was going to get chicken parmigiana this time and it’s not on the menu now.

Not many people eating here. They have one table outside and two others inside.

Gotta get the cheese sticks again.

Fettuccine Alfredo.

Beef tenderloin.

Another good lunch at Gusto.

It figures the day I don’t check Catch was open for lunch.

So close but so far.

0 for 2

Well earned.

After that I went over and got in the ocean on the family side. The water is nice. There’s no seaweed coming in today.

I made my way down to the bar where Roberto made me this Irish coffee type of frozen drink.

And this shot.

I think I’ve been sitting on the wrong side of this bar. From this side you can see the adult pool activities and the ocean.

The bar is packed. Four people are here. That’s the most I’ve seen in this bar this week.

A lady came up and told Roberto his was the only bar she could get service at. “If you aren’t star class you can’t get service at the adult pool bar,” she said. That’s a bunch of nonsense. I’ve drank at every bar on the property except the the star class bar, the family pool bar, and the point beak bar. Nobody has hesitated to give me a drink. I don’t think they even see my wrist band color.

A new guy had a shot of tequila. When he left he asked Roberto what he owed him. Roberto didn’t understand him. They guy threw a 20 at Roberto on his way out and said “It’s my first day I don’t know how this works.” So Roberto got a nice tip.

Some guy orders a Shirley Temple. Roberto says “you know this is the adult bar, right?”

There are about 10 people in here now. The weekend is coming.

I think I’ve had my last Roberto drink. He’s off the next two days.

I want to try to get all of the restaurants in while I’m here so I decided to give Sutra a try.

Sutra is packed! They say it’s going to be a 1.5-2 hour wait. While I was waiting to find that out, this Jack Wagon in front of me was complaining that he just watched them seat a table of 11 and the policy says they only seat tables of 10 or fewer people. Before it was over he was tying up five members of the staff during his little tantrum. Probably all because he wants to eat at Sutra tonight and he doesn’t want to wait for it.

I went to La Cocina and was seated immediately.

Black Bean Soup.

Tricolor Enchiladas.

Three milk cake.

La Cocina was excellent again.

I took a nap after dinner. I did set my alarm for the show though.

I was really tired so I watched the show from far away comfy seats. After the show was over I went back to bed.
