I just boarded Norwegian Prima in Galveston, Texas. They have a sign showing you where all of the muster stations are located. I immediately checked in at my mine in the atrium.
The atrium on this ship is definitely fancier than the older Norwegian ships.
I need to find a quiet spot for a meeting. I’m going with the Observation Lounge which is at the back of lido deck on this ship.
They have books and board games available at the entrance.
This is a good spot and it’s not crowded yet.
I grabbed a Grey Goose Martini from the bar.
I have a view of Battleship Texas from here.
I’m taking all of my sea day bathroom breaks in the Observation Lounge bathroom.
The railroad museum is a good place to visit in Galveston. I think I paid $10 five years ago.
Let’s check out the burger bar.
I’m not a buffet person so it’s unlikely I’ll be having a burger from here.
I thought the food hall replaced the buffet on this ship. They do have a traditional buffet on lido, but it’s very small. The food hall is down on deck 8.
They have a different kind of local here. On Encore it was in the atrium. Here it’s midship on deck 8.
This would be a good place to watch a game if they ever have something worth watching.
This is right at the entrance of the Indulge Food Hall which is deck 8 aft.
It looks like these desserts are additional charge.
In the back of Indulge is the Luna Bar which features a large selection of draft beers.
My first stop is Nudls.
You order on tablets in here. This is one of the items I was told to try.
It’s excellent. This won’t be the last time I get it.
I moved over to the BBQ place to try the okra.
It’s fine but nothing special. Living in the south I’ve had a lot of fried okra.
At this point I found out if you go to each individual location, you can only order from their menu. If you go to one of the other tables, you can order from all locations. I’ll have to try that at dinner.
The beer selection is extremely limited in Galveston before sail away so I’m going to get a double grey goose screwdriver.
I hadn’t purchased an internet package yet so I’m going to do that now.
Outside is the dry slides. I definitely want to try these.
I know her.
The Prima theater has retractable seating so they can do things like this in here.
That doesn’t look very comfortable. Let’s try it out.
It’s not bad. But you can’t see anything on the front row. I do like the cupholders.
This is kind of like the Sea Walk on Princess.
This is the Mexican specialty restaurant. I’m planning on using my specialty dinner here.
This is like in the Spice area of Encore except on Encore it was dry.
Infinity pool.
They call this section The Beach.
We are now deck 8 aft just outside of the Indulge Food Hall.
Le Bistro is the French restaurant. I ate there on Jewel last year.
The Metropolitan bar is the fancy cocktail bar on this ship.
Rooms are ready so I headed up to the studio area.
I got a nice room location without any neighbors.
This is a much better setup than the studio on Encore. They have a separate bathroom area and more storage than the old setup.
I’m pretty sure this is supposed to be a touch screen that allows me to turn on the do not disturb sign outside and change the temperature in here but it doesn’t seem to be working.
This is the package that veterans get. On Jewel and Encore I also got a challenge coin.
This is a little something from my leisure time placement engineer.
My excursion tickets were already in the room.
Here is today’s schedule.
Let’s check out the studio lounge which is just down the hall from my room.
The studio lounge is separated into three sections. That room on the far end seems to be a reading room. This middle room is the TV room.
Then on the other end is the dining area.
I’ll be using that coffee machine every morning.
Snacks and juice
I’m not sure if this is included in the drink package or not.
This rang up as $8 but on my account it’s only charging the tax.
I headed back to the room and found my luggage has been delivered.
There’s a safety video you have to watch in the room. On Encore I started playing it and left the room. You can’t do that on Princess because their video stops when your medallion leaves the room. Today I just played it while I was unpacking.
One thing missing from the studio rooms is a refrigerator. I purchased this cooler for the room.
There’s a welcome aboard party on the lido deck.
Lido deck feels really small with not many places to watch the festivities from. Part of that is due to the triple deck raceway up there.
I’m going to try that space up there.
The problem here is you can’t see the stage from up here.
And we are sailing away.
Battleship Texas
Harbor House Hotel
Ocean Star offshore oil rig museum
Seawolf Park with the USS Seawolf and the USS Stewart
I got a double Grey Goose screwdriver from the Luna Bar.
I’m back for dinner.
Pesto gnocchi again
Picanha
This pineapple is really good. It has cinnamon and brown sugar on the outside of it.
A waiter just walked by with some good looking naan. That’ll have to wait for another time.
After dinner I stepped outside for a walk around the exterior deck.
Then I stopped by The Local and grabbed two beers to take to the theater for The Not So Newly Wed show.
I’m trying out this bar stool seating on the second level.
This show is basically the same a the Love and Marriage show on Carnival.
This is Cruise Director Alvin from the Philippines.
Alvin did this different than Richard on Encore. This is more like Carnival does it. Longest married, shortest married, and a try out.
We ended up with Dallas (13 days).
Fort Worth (7 years)
And San Antonio (54 years). Like I always say a lot of people in Texas are fanatical about doing everything in Texas.
After the show I stepped outside.
The other side had two dry slides. This side has a single.
Dr. Bong is working the bar inside the food hall. He’s very entertaining.
Dr. Bong is passing this around. You can arrange these however you want. Put the top on it. He goes off and makes drinks. When he comes back he knows the numbers.
I got two Abita Ambers from Dr. Bong.
Now he’s mixing drinks on top of his head.
I headed down to the theater for the Welcome Aboard Show.
That was quite an entrance. The senior officers came up from under the stage.
The Welcome Aboard Show included a preview of all of the entertainment onboard.
Burn the floor
After the show I grabbed a Sam Adams and some ice for the cooler in the room.
Cruise Director Alvin is leading the after party in the atrium.
I grabbed a couple beers to take to comedy.
Since I know this comedian I grabbed a front row seat so I could get some good pictures to send her. This is Christina Walkinshaw from Vancouver.
John Wessling from McAllen, Texas.
Syd Norman’s Pour House is done for the night.
Karaoke is still going on. I’ll pass.
I’m grabbing a late night snack in The Local.
Pretzel bites
Then I grabbed a couple Guinness from The Local bar for the room.
Dr. Bong is working down here now.
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is a sea day. Good Night!
