Venezia Transatlantic: Day 6

on
August 18, 2023

Good morning! After Barcelona, Malaga, Gibraltar, and Lisbon, today is a much needed sea day. We set our clocks back an hour so we had an additional hour of sleep. Tomorrow we are in Ponta Delgado.

Here is today’s Fun Times:

Apparently the guy doing caricatures on deck 11 is sponsored by the cruise line.

I’ve been saying they need to do pickleball early in the morning since it seems to be an older crowd that plays it. And I think the basketball crowd probably sleeps later.

The morning pilates are spilling over into the coffee shop.

Mocha.

I stepped over to Rococo for a screwdriver.

Let’s check out the decor.

The Rococo bartender freaked me out by coughing up a storm. I decided to get my next drink elsewhere. Plus the coffee line was long on lido. I just went down to the atrium where I can get both.

Hub app has been having problems this morning. But the internet is working fine.

It doesn’t look like they have the “secret buffet” on deck 5. Or maybe it’s so secret the crew don’t even know about it yet.

The hub app started working in time for brunch.

The number of people standing in front of the dining room who don’t have tables assigned is just beyond ridiculous. The deck 3 elevator lobby was loaded. The stairwell was full of people. And some were up on deck 4. I had to fight my way through it all.

There were clearly a few people with tables in line. Then there were a few more groups that may have been in that line but I wasn’t sure so I asked. They don’t have a table. They’re just waiting there. Why?

Flaming tomato soup.

Huervos Rancheros.

I was just about to brag on how great the rancheros was today. Then I found a chicken bone in it. I continued carefully. Then I bit into that smaller chunk of bone on the left. I’m not interested in breaking any teeth out here so I’m done.

I didn’t take crowd pictures on the way in. It has died down some but this was on the way out.

The people who don’t want to stand are camped out in the stairwell.

Trivia is happening in the Gondola Lounge.

I stopped by Frizzante for a bloody mary.

I took the bloody mary to the morning show in the main lounge.

After the morning show I went back to Frizzante for another bloody mary.

They’re playing some kind of game at Amari.

They do have some games going on by the main pool. This is the second time I’ve seen it and it’s always kids on stage so I don’t think it’s your typical Carnival pool games.

I ran into my steward in the hallway. He said he thought I was still in the room so he’ll come back later. That means he forgot our deal about evening cleaning on sea days.

I left the do not disturb sign off so he would hopefully deliver my laundry. Clearly he hasn’t. I asked if he had it and he did so I grabbed it.

After my bloody mary I headed up to deck 11 for a fun ship.

I took that back to the room and found a duck along the way.

I went back for another fun ship and caught a melon carving competition.

I headed back up to deck 11 for another fun ship.

Then down to Guy’s for lunch.

I’ve had the Pizza Burger. I’m going to try the other new one which is the Super Melty Mootz.

If you want a fresh burger order this one. They pull it straight off of the grill instead of giving you one out of those pans.

That’s really good. If you want a fresh burger this is the way to go. You may have to wait a little longer though.

They have quite a few free on-demand movies on the TV as well as some pay ones. The Intern is one of the free ones.

What a crowed for 3:30pm PG comedy!

Joe Marlotti.

A peek inside the teppanyaki at 5:30pm.

Amari is full.

I headed to Frizzante. It looks like two seats are available there.

Mocha espresso martini.

Italian espresso martini.

I headed to the main lounge for Vintage Pop. This is one of the few Carnival shows I don’t believe I’ve seen.

I stepped out a few minutes early to make it to comedy. This is cruise director MarQ at Vintage Pop.

The atrium duo.

Bud Anderson.

Towards the end of comedy I requested a dinner table so it would hopefully be ready when I got out.

Here is tonight’s dinner menu.

Crab cake

I forgot to take a picture of my clam chowder.

Jumbo grilled shrimp.

Grand marnier souffle.

After dinner I headed back to the comedy club.

This is Joe Marlotti.

All TVs are working in the Hero’s Bar.

This is like a tennis fan’s dream. As I walked by I was hitting my tongue on the the top of my mouth which sounds a lot like a tennis ball being hit. The three tennis fans were not a fans of that.

I stopped for a beer.

Then I headed back to the comedy club for Bud Anderson’s last show of  the cruise.

I had a water bottle in my hand and so badly wanted to knock those paper cups down.

Vintage Pop after party.

I’m off to bed. Tomorrow we’re in Ponta Delgado.
