Epic: Debarkation

on
October 19, 2026

Good morning from San Juan! Debarkation began at 6am with self assist.

This is really nice. I’m pretty sure all other studios I’ve been in had nothing on debarkation day. They don’t even turn the coffee machine on because they want you out.

Luggage tag times:

yellow – 6:40, light blue – 7:30, lime (mine) – 7:45

I checked out of the room at 7:35.

I think they should consider having a bilingual cruise director on this ship. Every announcement is bing bong English. Then 1-5 minutes later another bing bong Spanish. I could do with half as many bing bongs.

I think I forgot to mention this but the captain is interesting. He’s the first Indian captain I’ve had and his announcements before sail away each day are interesting. Usually it’s just weather and nautical information from captains. This one talks about the next port. Tells you some history. Maybe a story. It’s different.

Gray tags were called at 8:15.

Pancakes

smoked salmon bagel

Red tags were called at 8:25. I left the ship at that time. There were no lines. The biggest obstacle was people using the stairwell as a waiting area.

It looks like a Royal Caribbean ship is here with us.

I stepped off of the ship at 8:28 and stepped out of the port at 8:35. They had six facial recognition lines in the port.

Lyft gave me 15% discount which makes them cheaper than uber.

The pickup spot is to the right after you exit the port. Under the white tent. That is not where Lyft told me to wait.

Next time we’ll cover my visit to El Yunque National Forest.
