New England Getaway: New York Day 3

I just got off of Norwegian Getaway in Manhattan and I’m taking a Lyft to Sheraton Times Square.

It’s too early to check in so I’m paying for luggage storage at the hotel. It’s $6 per bag for the day. I’m paying for my suitcase and backpack.

I am heading to a subway station to get to Hudson Yards to see Vessel.

This is that food market that was in front of the hotel last week. This week they’re setting up one street down.

34th Street-Hudson Yards is my stop. I’ll be getting back on this same train to go to the Mets game later.

I don’t like these steep escalators. I don’t mind going up so much, but it’s a bit scary going down.

Vessel has been closed the last two times I’ve been to New York due to people using it for suicides. I’ve been checking the status of it and it re-opened about six months before this trip so I put it on my list.

First I’m stopping for a bagel at one of the places that has been highly recommended that I’ve just never made it to in the morning on prior trips.

This is a place that has been on my list since my first trip here in 2022. I just haven’t been near it when I was looking for a bagel. I just looked for bagel shops in this area and it popped up. I didn’t realize how long of a wait I was in for though.

I didn’t realize vessel didn’t open until 11. I was hoping to leave here at 11. The guy said I can go through it in 20 minutes so that’s not bad. I’m still going to do it.

I am heading back to the subway station to take the train to the Mets game.

This is the part I don’t like.

We are going almost all the way to the end at Mets-Willets Point.

And here we are at Citi Field for a Sunday afternoon Mets-Marlins game. I made it just in time for the gates opening.

Pastrami on rye

The U.S. Open is going on over there which I believe is all of the tennis that was on TV on the ship.

And we are getting back on the train to head back to the hotel. The Mets lost. I’ve been to three games at Citi Field the past four years and they’ve lost all of them. They are 2-1 in road games I’ve attended during that time.

I’m taking the 7 to Broadway and changing to the F to Rockefeller center. There are a couple other options with a shorter walk at the end but those require me catching three trains and I want to keep it down to two.
