Moulin Rouge on Broadway

Tonight I’m going to Moulin Rouge starring Wayne Brady. I’m staying at the Sheraton Times Square. It’s a half a mile walk to the theater from there.

I got here 10 minutes before doors.

I wanted to get here early because I got caught off guard not being able to take a drink into Wicked a few years ago so now I always read the theater rules. This theater also says no drinks allowed in the show. I want my souvenir cup so I need to allow time to drink it before the show.

They were 10 minutes late opening doors. They have four lines, two on each side.

I headed straight back to the bar line.

All of the shows have their own specialty drinks. I usually get a fruity one with vodka. This time I’m going with Love.

The bartender told me you are allowed to bring drinks into the theater here so that’s good news. I can take my time with it.

The bar upstairs has a longer line.

They do have a mobile drink station.

Here is a look at the theater.

When I was picking seats I was choosing between this one and the one in front of me. The positive about the one in front of me was more interaction with the performers. I picked this one because it has a ton of legroom and the one in front of me has basically none.

This is my view. I consider this a value ticket. I paid $68 to sit here.

I’m usually looking for seats up close on the end that are cheaper than other tickets. For Phantom of the opera I actually got front row center for cheap. Chicago I was front row on the end like this which was great. But I always read seat reviews before picking a seat. I paid more to stay near the center for Hamilton because the side seats missed a good portion of the show. 

For this seat I read that you don’t miss much at all. And it actually becomes a front row seat when they’re using this side stage. Another thing I found out, all of the actors enter and leave the stage right by me so there is some interaction as the enter and leave the stage.

You’re not allowed to put your drinks on the stage. I learned that at Chicago.

And we are at intermission.

I just used the bathroom and returned to the theater.

You aren’t allowed to use your phones during the show. But I usually see people take them out during the curtain call. Everyone did it at The Lion King. I wanted to get a couple shots since Wayne Brady is in it.

And that’s the show. I enjoyed it. My $68 value seat was great. I didn’t really miss anything being on the end and there are times when you’re up close and personal with the actors. The girls interact a little. One guy I could see his his dental work. I could see the spittle coming out of Wayne Brady’s mouth when he was on the side. That’s when you know you have a good seat.
