Epic: San Juan Day 3 and Return Trip
After debarkation I grabbed a Lyft to the airport. At the airport I have a rental car waiting for me there. My flight isn’t until tonight so I’m going to spend my day out at El Yunque National Forest.

All of the rental car agencies are in the same spot.

I missed a turn and ended up in a spot where I can return all cars except Alamo.

I ended up on a road out of the airport and it turned out to be a toll road. This detour ended up costing me $13 in tolls and toll activation fees.
It’s a nice road though.

I got it right the second time and got the car returned.

As long as I’m under 50 I’m good.

Apparently out of Puerto Rico your bags have to be inspected by the USDA. It’s a separate line when you first walk in.

Now the security line.

I got in that USDA line at 5:30 and was at my gate at 6:15.

I grabbed a sandwich and water at the place where I got coffee last week.

I also got this pastry the worker recommended. It has cream cheese in it. They also had cream cheese and guava.

I don’t think any seats have outlets here.

My plane arrived at 6:53pm.

This is the premium economy legroom.

The door is closed and the middle seat is empty. I was nervous when they said the flight was full.

We were originally scheduled to arrive at 11:35pm. After takeoff we had an estimate of 10:26. Now it’s up to 10:53 as we fly over Grand Turk.

This should be Fort Lauderdale. We’re still looking to be in before 11pm.

At this point a lady behind me orders a Ginger Ale. When I was a kid we used to always drink Ginger Ale on planes and that was the only time we would drink it. I don’t know why.
The flight attendant informs her they’re out of Ginger Ale. She asks for another type of drink and a snack box. The flight attendant comes back and says we just sold our last snack box. The lady says I’ll just take the drink. The flight attendant comes back with the drink and says “It’s on the house since we had absolutely nothing you wanted.” You won’t hear about that in the comedy shows.

It looks like we’re over Toledo Bend. We should be starting our final descent soon.

We landed at 10:49. It’s 10:54 now. We’re 100 feet from the gate waiting on them to do something.
You can count on it every time. They said our luggage would be on E31. It looks like it’s going to be E32.

They just made an announcement. E31–Even though that screen says Orlando.
This is insane. For my next San Juan trip I had a direct fly out of DFW 6am to 11:30am. They just emailed me that it changed to I’m connecting in Chicago and getting in at 3:30pm. If that’s the best they have I have to stick with it. I’m using the last of my Spirit points on that trip.

I think they do that on purpose. I park way out where nobody will park next to me and look at this. Next time we’re going on Norwegian Viva.
