New England Getaway: Bar Harbor

Welcome to Bar Harbor, Maine. I’m doing an Arcadia National Park tour today. This is channel 12 on the stateroom TV. They are calling the tender numbers on this channel. They called 1 and 2 at 7:10am. I have number 9. I’m supposed to check in for my tour at 9:30 so I just want to be on a tender by 9am.

Here is today’s Freestyle Daily.

They called tender tickets 9-10 at 8:30.

I didn’t get the best seat but I got a seat.

It’s a steep ramp off of the tender.

It is 63 degrees right now. The high is 71 and the low is 50.

I found the meeting spot. I have time so I’m going to walk around an look for potential lunch spots.

I am back from my tour. I’m going to find a place to eat lunch and maybe buy a t-shirt before I get back on the ship.

There is one other ship here with us. It’s a small ship from American Cruise Line.

It’s time to eat. I decided to eat at Geddy’s based on recommendations.

This is a Bar Harbor Ale.

This is the Cap’n Geddy’s Lobster Bake. It comes with clam chowder and corn on the cob.

This is a blueberry beer. The blueberries are locally sourced.

Blueberry pie is also a part of the lobster bake meal.

The last tender is at 3:30. I got in line at 2:30 and the line is crazy.

I’m getting on the 3pm tender.

I believe those are lobster traps.

I bought this shirt before I got on the tender.

The checkout girl asked if I wanted a bag. Thinking it was just a plastic bag, I said no. She asked “are you sure? they’re free.” When I saw it was a nice reusable bag I said “yes, I want a bag.” I can take this to Aldi.

I got a jalapeno cucumber mojito at Sugarcane.

The last tender was supposed to be at 3:30 but it’s nearly 5pm and they’re still running.

It looks like we’re leaving at 5pm.

I grabbed a couple beers to take to the show.

It’s totally full right now. I saw him on Prima in March. I’m going to go eat dinner and maybe I’ll catch his later show.

I got a standing spot at the comedy bar for Ryan Wingfield.

I grabbed two more beers to take to the Glenn Foster show.

I got another standing spot in the comedy club. It took forever to get out of the theater being down front. You basically had to wait for the entire theater to empty in order to get up the stairs. I wish they had lower exits.
