Regal Christmas: Day 5

I don’t eat egg yolks anymore so I just removed them.

I’m trying a honey lavender latte this morning. It seems to be a popular drink but I still like the butter pecan latte the better.

The morning exercise classes are very popular here. It’s not just the people on the floor doing it. You’ll see people off to the side participating. They incorporate music and dance into it. People seem to enjoy it.

I went to the Princess Live Cafe and got a chocolate cookie latte. I like this one better than the honey lavender but I still like butter pecan the best.

This must be a fruit tree.

It looks like we’re supposed to be near Cozumel so I stepped outside to see if I could see it.

I don’t see anything. How about you?

I guess this is the Texas tree.

I wonder what they’ll do with those ornaments since Princess is leaving Texas.

I’m starting out with a screwdriver at Good Spirits.

They have a tango dance class in the piazza now.

I’m trying a Hawaiian Tropics at Good Spirits.

I got a spicy bloody mary to take to Giuseppe’s presentation in the theater.

For all of the slides in Giuseppe’s presentation, please visit Real Crew Life with Cruise Director Giuseppe.

We had a Q&A with the chef and the associate hotel director. She is from Australia. He is from Ireland. This is his first cruise contract. She keeps coming back to this ship.
They were asked about the strangest thing they’ve seen onboard. The chef said he had someone who was on an all fat diet who asked him to save the fat and cook it for him every meal. And he did.
Tam said when she was a fitness instructor they were in Alaska and the ship listed 14 degrees while she was doing a spin class. They were trying to avoid whales. Apparently they have to listen for whale breaths. If they hear 7 they can keep going straight because the whale is gone. If it’s three they have to change course. They heard 7 but it turned out it was 3 from 3 whales.
She said the captain was in a wine tasting and had to excuse himself. The wine bottles all broke. People were thrown out of the pool. Water got in the elevators. Those people thought the ship was sinking.
Giuseppe said one night he found a man in his underwear banging on a cabin door. The man got out of bed mistook the cabin door for the bathroom door and locked himself out of the room.
Chef was asked about menus. He said the menus on this ship are new this cruise. First in the fleet. He said corporate is onboard now for it. He only gets to choose the order for dining room menus. He has more control in the buffet where they can try new things.
This wasn’t from the Q&A but it was from a video I saw on the TV with the chef. Everyday at 4:30 the chefs get together with all of the dinner dishes laid out for a taste test.
Tam has a husband and thee kids. They are coming onboard Sunday for a month. Giuseppe said her kids are at all of the events and like when he DJs. She said they call him DJ spaghetti

We’re now passing Cancun.

They’re still doing dance classes in the piazza.

That’s the magician in the white shirt.

I grabbed a beer from The Wheelhouse bar to take to lunch.

I feel like this is maybe the same menu as the last sea day lunch. I know I had the roasted cauliflower and Mac and cheese.

Street tacos is really just one taco.

Tex Mex Roasted Chicken Chimichurri is good.

I got the sundae for dessert.

Deal or No Deal is happening in the theater now.

I like that they have a special pizza of the day so it’s not the same thing everyday. But it’s the most difficult pizza to get fresh because everyone is getting pepperoni or margherita.

I got a spicy bloody mary at the sea view bar.

This is my bartender here. It doesn’t matter how packed it is he sees me and he’s right on it.
But I keep changing it up on him. He makes a really good spicy bloody mary if you like them really spicy. So yesterday he comes over “hey Greg! Spicy bloody mary?” I said no give me a dirty banana. Today he sees me “hey Greg! dirty banana? No give me a spicy bloody mary. I would say he and Rafael in the casino are the two best bartenders I’ve come across this cruise.

Dirty banana

You need to be careful on the balcony selection if you don’t want people on that sea walk to see your balcony.

Mine was assigned but I’m almost under the bridge so I’m in good shape.

I think my bartender is in a pool competition.

What they’re doing is two bartenders have teams. They demonstrate how to make a drink. Then someone from their team has to replicate it. They have to do a hurricane, 24kt gold margarita, and a blue margarita.

This is his Hurricane.

I got a pina colada.

Comedy host Andrew is hosting this competition.

After that competition I headed back to the room for a bit.

I have the Chef’s Table tonight. There’s going to be a juggler in here for the main show. Hopefully I get back in time to catch the late show.

For full coverage of the Chef’s Table experience please checkout Regal Christmas: Chef’s Table.

After the Chef’s Table I stopped by the room to grab a beer out of the fridge. They’re going to be cleaning balconies tomorrow.

Walking down the stairs I hear a guy on the phone “no it’s IBM, not IBS.”

I found a seat close to the front off to the side.

Here are some clips from the show.

They give you a picture at the chef’s table but if you want additional copies they’re available in the app already.

This is my account. My $175 onboard credit took care of most of the chef’s table charges.

I ran up to the room to grab another beer for the comedy show.

There are more seats on the other side. I’m heading over there.

What’re YOU looking at?

This is a good spot.

I’m on the end so I have a spot for my beer. The other day I sat in the middle of the row and was held hostage after the show was over because there was a lady in a scooter blocking one side and people who wanted to sit through Giuseppe’s 15 minute speech after the show on the other side.

Late night party in the piazza.

I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is another sea day.
